CRL-U.S. Aluminum’s Entice® Entrance System
Secures Two Awards for Innovation

Entice® Receives Architectural Record’s Notable “Best in Category” Award, and Architectural Products’ “Product Innovation Award”

LOS ANGELES, CA - DECEMBER 02, 2015 - It’s been a successful inaugural year for CRL-U.S. Aluminum’s new Entice® Entrance System as the product took home two highly regarded industry accolades. The system was the recipient of the “Best in Category” award for “Openings” in Architectural Record magazine’s annual Record Products competition. It also took home Architectural Products magazine’s “Product Innovation Award” in the “Windows/Doors/Openings” category, with special recognition as “Best Product for Retail”. In both cases, a panel of independent industry experts reviewed hundreds of entries and selected Entice® as the winner based on achievements in engineering and design. The two awards add to an already existing “Best of Products” honor from Architect’s Newspaper.

“Building on the success of last year’s program, our fifth edition of the Product Innovation Awards proves commercial building manufacturers are committed to developing products that deliver better performance and function,” stated Jim Crockett, Editorial Director at Architectural Products magazine.

The patented Entice® Entrance System features several innovations that caught the attention of the panel of judges. First, it has the unique ability to support door handle hardware on 1" insulating glass panels using proprietary through-glass fittings. This provides a floating-on-air visual that is capable of handling emergency exit hardware loads during the UL emergency exit test. Second, with a vertical stile width of only 1-1/8" and a 2-1/2" system depth, Entice® has achieved one of the thinnest profiles in the industry; however, despite its contemporary all-glass appearance, the stiles incorporate heavy-duty, thermally broken cladding that allows the system to meet or exceed code requirements for thermal performance. Additional performance attributes include:

• Meets AAMA SFM-1-14 and ASHRAE 90.1 performance requirements
• U-factors as low as 0.33
• Designed for all high solar and thermal-efficient glass options including low-E coatings and tints

“Despite its sleek profile, the Entice® Entrance System offers the performance of a heavy, full-frame system,” said Stephan Jaklitsch, Principal at Jaklitsch/Gardner Architects and 2015 Record Products Awards judge.

Currently, the common solution for producing code-compliant glass entrance systems involves using thermally broken, fully-framed doors with handle hardware mounted onto wide vertical door stiles. CRL-U.S. Aluminum engineered the Entice® Entrance System to not only meet code requirements for energy efficiency and thermal performance, but also provide the premium, visually striking aesthetics of all-glass entrance systems that are often specified by architects and designers. The company’s efforts were a success as indicated by the recognition Entice® has received.

“With Entice®, we believe we’ve developed a game-changing entrance system that the industry needs right now,” said Lloyd Talbert, President of C.R. Laurence. “The need for aesthetically pleasing solutions that meet the ever more stringent energy performance codes is critical to our industry maintaining a preferred position with architects; Entice® certainly checks all the boxes.”
